Study opens door to a potential treatment of Alzheimer’s

New vaccine stimulates brain’s defences against progressive disorder

It could be the silver bullet of dementia – a vaccine against Alzheimer’s, a devastating neurological disease that robs people of their memories and reasoning and, eventually, the capacity to do simple daily tasks. A team of researchers from Université Laval in Québec and pharmaceutical firm GlaxoSmithKline has discovered a way to stimulate the brain’s natural defence mechanism against this progressive disorder.
