Ottawa Long-term care home staff allege they were given flimsy masks, told to reuse disposable probes

Staff at Laurier Manor describe a home that allegedly skimped on protective equipment, allowed an infected resident to use the elevators without a mask or gloves and did what they describe as the minimum to prevent spread of COVID-19. Among other things, staff members were allegedly told to reuse the disposable probes that cover thermometers and were given flimsy dust masks from the maintenance room instead of surgical ones. When staff brought masks from home, they were allegedly told to take them off because they might scare the residents.
